Importing Korean skincare into Canada

What the border charges, where each shop stops charging for shipping, and what the two together mean for the order you were going to place anyway.

What does Canada charge on an imported parcel?

Canadian GST or HST above CAD 20.

Below the threshold the border charges nothing at all. nuvy compares your USD order against it using the dated rate in fx.json — the threshold itself is written in the country's own currency, and the USD figure is nuvy's arithmetic, not a published line.

Above the threshold nuvy will not quote you a number. Above CAD 20 the border collects 5% GST, or HST instead if you live in a participating province — 13% on the CBSA's own mail page. Korean cosmetics carry a further 6.5% duty unless the parcel is cleared under the Canada–Korea agreement, which makes that part nothing. And Canada Post adds a flat CAD 9.95 to collect any of it. Which of those reach you is decided by where you live and what the shipper put on the parcel, so nuvy will not name a total.

Customs rule last checked on 2026-10-02. The rule read was Importing by mail (5% GST, CAD 20 exemption) and Customs Tariff 3304.99.90 (Canada Border Services Agency) — the notice itself. These change — the US $800 exemption was suspended on 2025-08-29 — so treat an old date as a reason to verify.

This is what the border charges. A consumption tax the shop itself collects at its own checkout — where the shop is registered to collect it — is already inside the price nuvy shows, and is not added again here.

Duty, tariff, customs, import fees — which is which

Duty and tariff are the same charge, and "customs" is both the agency that collects it and the everyday word for it. It is a percentage of what the goods are worth, decided by the border rather than by the shop.

VAT and GST are a different tax. A country can charge duty, a consumption tax, both, or neither, which is why there is a page per country rather than one rule for everywhere. Into Canada, above the line both arrive: Canadian GST or HST above CAD 20, plus a duty set by how the parcel is classified.

"Import fees" is an umbrella — it covers everything above, and it is also where one charge hides that nuvy does not quote: a courier's own fee for clearing the parcel and fronting the tax. That one is the courier's, not the border's, and it is not in any total on this page. Everything nuvy does put a number on is above.

Where does each shop's free-shipping line fall?

ShopFree shipping fromFee belowDelivery
Stylevana$47.79$5.626–12 days
YesStyle$50.00$6.007–14 days
BuyBeautyKorea$75.00$9.00 EST7–14 days

EST marks a figure this shop does not publish for this country — it is nuvy's estimate, not a quote.

What does a real routine cost at your door?

Everywhere else on nuvy this heading prices a real six-step routine at each shop and totals it at the door. Not here: Stylevana runs a separate Canadian store priced in CAD, and nuvy's product prices come from the US feed in USD — a routine total built from them would be a different shop's shelf. The shipping figures below are converted to USD at the dated rate in fx.json so they can sit beside the rest of the site.

Everything above is unaffected — the border's rule and each shop's own shipping table need no prices at all, and they are what this page is for. The calculator below works on whatever order total you give it.

What will your order cost at the door?

Type your order total. Each shop's own shipping line and what Canada adds, side by side. This compares what each shop adds on top of the same order value — the same products can be priced differently at each shop.
