nuvy

Privacy Policy

nuvy prices a whole Korean skincare routine at every shop it tracks — shipping and import duty included — so you can see where it actually costs less. We built it to need as little of your data as possible — no account, and no cookies of our own. We count how the site is used, without identifying anyone; we earn a commission when you buy through our links; and the home page carries one banner advertisement, served by the same affiliate network. All three are explained in full below.

The short version

We don't ask you to sign up, and we never see your name or payment details. Your skin type, budget, and cart are saved only in your own browser — they never reach us.
One thing reaches us, and only this one: we count anonymous events — a page was viewed, a shop link was opened — with no cookie and nothing that identifies you. We never ask for your email, because there is nothing here to sign up for.

What stays on your device

To remember your choices between visits, nuvy stores a few things in your browser's local storage:
•
Your skin type and budget preferences
•
The country you are shipping to
•
Your cart (the products you saved)
•
What each saved product cost when you saved it, so we can show you what has dropped
•
Whether you've seen this notice
This information lives on your device only. We have no server that receives it, and clearing your browser storage removes it completely.

What we count

We measure how nuvy is used, because otherwise we improve it by guessing. It is built so that it cannot become tracking:
•
No cookie and no storage. Nothing is written to your device to measure you, so nuvy never has to ask your permission to count a visit. The notice at the foot of the site is about the settings you chose, listed above — not about measurement — and it asks for nothing either.
•
No account, no profile, nothing that follows you. There is no id for you to be given. To count a visit as one visit rather than five, our provider derives a key from your IP address and browser, which changes every day and is never stored as itself — your IP address is not kept. So a visit today cannot be matched to a visit tomorrow, and none of it can be matched to you: we can see that 12% of visits opened the step comparison, not that you did.
•
A fixed, short list of values. An event may carry your shipping country, which shop a link went to, a skin type, or a chosen concern — each from a handful of possible values. Never free text, never a search you typed, never a product you saved.
The events we send are: using the skin quiz, choosing a concern, opening the step comparison, opening a shop link, changing country, and — on the import-duty pages — following the link from one into the comparison. Alongside them, each page view records which nuvy page you opened, the site you arrived from, your screen size, your browser language, and — worked out from your IP address and then discarded — your country, browser, and device type.
Our provider is Umami, a US company processing this for us and barred from using it for anything else. Because your country is derived from your IP address on their servers, that request reaches the United States — it is not kept there, and nothing in it identifies you.

We never ask you for anything about yourself

There is no account, no signup and no email form. nuvy used to offer to email you when a saved price dropped; it now just tells you when you come back, by remembering in your own browser what each saved item cost when you saved it and comparing that with today. The comparison happens on your device and the old price never leaves it, so there is nothing for us to hold, nothing to unsubscribe from, and nothing to ask you to consent to.

What third parties may see

nuvy is a static website, but your browser loads a few things from other companies to make the page work. Those companies may receive your IP address and standard request details:
•
Fonts are served by Google Fonts.
•
Product photos load from the retailers' image servers (e.g., Shopify-based shops).
•
Our host, Netlify, keeps standard security and traffic logs.
•
When you tap a shop, ingredient, or review link, you leave nuvy for that site, which has its own privacy policy.
Your approximate country is guessed from your browser's time zone, inside your browser — we don't run IP geolocation. The guess never leaves your device, and you can change it from the header.

Affiliate links & how nuvy makes money

nuvy is free, and it earns money two ways. When you tap a shop link here and go on to buy something, that shop pays us a commission. And the home page carries one banner advertisement. Both run through an affiliate network called Awin, which is how a shop knows the visit came from us.
•
One ad slot, and it says so. There is a single slot, under the header on the home page, labelled "Sponsored". A handful of creatives from the shops nuvy already compares take turns in it. Each is the advertiser's own image, fetched from Awin rather than from nuvy — so Awin counts that it was shown, and sees the request your browser makes for it, which carries your IP address and your browser's details the way any image loaded from another company's server does. That happens on the page loading, without anybody tapping anything. nuvy is not told who saw it.
•
It does not touch the ranking. Which shop nuvy calls cheapest is worked out from prices, shipping and duty alone. Paying for the banner buys the banner and nothing else — a shop that advertises here can still come last in the comparison, and does.
•
Tapping it goes through Awin, like every shop link here. That is how a commission is attributed, and Awin and the shop may set their own cookies at that point. Whether the banner's own image request sets anything is Awin's to say rather than ours, and their policy is linked below. nuvy sets no cookie either way, before or after.
•
It costs you nothing. The commission comes out of the shop's margin. You pay the same price you would by going to the shop directly.
•
It does not decide what you see. Every ranking on nuvy is computed from price alone — the cheapest total wins, whatever it pays us. We do not take money to place a product, and there is nowhere in the code for a commission rate to affect an order.
•
We don't learn who you are. Awin tells us that a sale happened and what it earned, not who bought it. Awin's report carries no name, email or address.
•
What we can and cannot connect. Our shop links carry a short tag saying which part of the page a click came from and which country it was shipping to — "a bundle click from Singapore", and nothing else. It holds no id for you and no id for your visit, so a sale report can tell us that bundles convert better than the grid, never that the person reading this page bought something. Nothing here can join a purchase back to a visit, and we have not built anything that could.
What does happen: when you tap a buy link, you pass through Awin's redirect, and Awin and the shop may set their own cookies in your browser to remember the referral. Those cookies belong to them, not to nuvy, and are covered by their policies — Awin's is at awin.com/gb/privacy. nuvy sets no cookie of its own at any point.

Cookies & tracking

nuvy sets no cookies at all — not for advertising, not for analytics, and none that follow you between sites. That is still true now that we count usage: our measurement is cookieless by design, which is why nothing here asks you to accept anything. We use local storage only for the functional items above. What is not ours is Awin: the banner on the home page is fetched from their server on every visit, and tapping any shop link sends you through them. Both are described in the section above. See our Cookie notice for details.

Your choices

•
Turn off measurement with your browser's Do Not Track setting or any content blocker — nuvy works exactly the same either way, because nothing here depends on it.
•
Remove saved items anytime from your cart.
•
Reach a shop without the referral by searching for the product on that shop's own site.
•
Clear all stored preferences by clearing site data in your browser settings.
•
Block third-party content or fonts using your browser's privacy controls.

Children

nuvy is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

This page said we would update it before adding anything that collects more, and that is what this version is: cookieless usage counting, described above and written here before it went live. The same promise holds for whatever comes next.
